Although my first love is fine art, I have a true passion for children's book illustration. The marriage of the two is what I hope my artwork expresses. I graduated from Parsons School of Design with a degree in fine art. I teach painting and drawing in a variety of venues to students of all ages. I enjoy the process enormously and reap the benefits of all their creative muses. After having children of my own and getting into the wonderful habit of reading thousands! of books to them, I was moved to create children's illustrations of my own. Thus, I 'm an aspiring children's book illustrator.  In addition to that, I exhibit locally and produce commissioned portraits and landscape paintings. My sense of work ethic and dedication to my passion for art makes me an easy and reliable person to work with, always delivering my projects complete and on time!
Presently, I teach drawing and painting to adults and general art to children at the new JCC of  Rockland facility. This coming Spring I'll also be an instructor of fine arts at Dominican College which I'm very excited about! In addition, I have taught a variety of art workshops for the Rockland Center for the Arts, Rockland Community College and the North Rockland School District in Rockland County where I reside.
On another note, one of my favorite activities is being the moderator for the illustrator's critique group blog I formed, "Critique Group for Children's Book Illustrators . I receive invaluable feedback from the close knit group of artist members and maintain an open eye for improving my work continuously.
Most of my free time is spent with my husband, Thomas, watching our kids grow, much too fast mind you, in Stony Point, New York where I love to paint, read, cook and listen to classical music . I am a member of the following organizations: The Graphic Artist's Guild, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the Arts Council of Rockland. Check out my blog "Giselle's Musings" to see works in prgress and more.
